Ross Ramsay
W. R. (Ross) Ramsay was born in Auckland in 1947 and he graduated with an MSc in science from the University of Auckland in 1973. He did his PhD on the tectonic and volcanic evolution of the Solomon Islands graduating from the University of New England.
He has worked through Australia in government and academic spheres, returning to New Zealand with his wife (Gael) in 2006. He then taught in the School of Environmental Management, Southern Institute of Technology for some 10 years before retiring to Kerikeri, Northland, NZ.
Ross has published widely on the Solomon Islands, gold mineralisation in Australia, early Polynesian voyaging, and on early English porcelains
Gael Ramsay
E. G. (Gael) Ramsay (nee Atwell) was born in Rawene, NZ in 1949. She graduated with an MA Arts from the University of Auckland and moved to Australia with Ross her husband, where she graduated with an MA Museum Studies (Monash University).
She has variously tutored at La Trobe University, curator for the Donald Thompson Collection (Museum of Victoria), and was Deputy Director Ballarat Fine Art Gallery before returning to NZ as Director/Manager of the Southland Museum and Art Gallery.
She moved to Kerikeri, Northland, NZ, where she currently is Project Manager for the restoration of the Clarke Homestead, Whangarei.
